KEEP FROM RETURNING TO WICKEDNESS

Bible Reading: Nahum 2
"'I am against you,' declares the LORD Almighty. 'I will burn up your chariots in smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions. I will leave you no prey on the earth. The voices of your messengers will no longer be heard.'" Nahum 2:13

A few decades earlier, the people of Nineveh had been warned by Jonah about their wickedness and to their credit, they repented as a city. However at this particular time, they had become sinful once more, this time with greater intensity.

For this reason, the Lord prophesies against them, for they had been warned once before and yet they had returned to their old ways. They had forsaken the Lord and they sought after wickedness. Once we have turned from evil, let us never go back. While we may stumble and fall, we must get back up, ask for the forgiveness of the Lord and then continue along the path of righteousness. If we begin to entertain any form of sin, it will slowly grip our lives and like the city of Nineveh, we will end up in a deeper hole than we started. Therefore continually resist temptation and return quickly to the life of holiness the Lord has called you to live.

"Father, help me to walk with You. Give me the strength to resist temptation and stay on the righteous path. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
