BUILD HIS HOUSE

Bible Reading: Haggai 1
"'You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?' declares the LORD Almighty. 'Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with his own house.'" Haggai 1:9

The people had found themselves labouring hard and yet not reaping a great harvest. The Lord unveils the reason for their lack of blessings, revealing that they have put their own interests before the Lord's.

The people were so busy building their own lives that they had forgotten to build the house of the Lord. They had become so preoccpied with their own world that they had lost focus of the ministry to which God had called them. Our society today bears remarkable ressemblance to the people Haggai was prophesying to so many years ago. Our world is primary focussed on building up their own lives and in doing so, have ignored the building of God's kingdom. This of course is not an issue for God, who is sovereign, however it is an issue for those who pursue their own interests first. Failing to place the Lord first place in our lives positions us in a place where we will not see the blessings of God in our lives. Only when He is truly first place in our lives are we in a position to receive His abundant blessings.

"Father, as I put You first and focus on building Your house, I pray that You will strengthen me and bless me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
