DEFILED OFFERINGS
Bible Reading: Haggai 2
"Then Haggai said, 'If a person defiled by contact with a dead body touches one of these things, does it become defiled?' 'Yes,' the priests replied, 'it becomes defiled.' Then Haggai said, 'So it is with this people and this nation in my sight,' declares the LORD. 'Whatever they do and whatever they offer there is defiled.'" Haggai 2:13-14
The law of Moses stated that if food that was consecrated came into contact with a dead body, then it became defiled. The Lord spoke to the Israelites concerning their condition, describing their nature as being dead and defiled, thereby defiling all that they offered, rendering it unworthy of the Lord.
We may offer the Lord many sacrifices, but if our heart is not right, then they are worthless in the sight of God. We must clean up our lives and consecrate ourselves before we can truly offer ourselves to Him. By the grace and mercy of the Lord we can receive forgiveness and the righteousness of God through Jesus' blood, and we can therefore come before the Lord with a clean heart. We must not be ignorant of the fact that God will not receive defiled offerings. Let us therefore come to the Lord with a pure heart, offering our lives as a living sacrifice having been washed clean by the blood of the Lamb.
"Father, purify my heart and cleanse me so that I will be a pure and acceptable sacrifice to You. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
God bless,
Pastor David Gunawan
