RESPECTING THE GOOD SHEPHERD
Bible Reading: Zechariah 11
"In one month I got rid of the three shepherds. The flock detested me, and I grew weary of them" Zechariah 11:8
Zechariah prophesies of the time when the Jewish people would turn and reject Jesus, the Good Shepherd. Even though they had been chosen by God, their rejection of God resulted in a severed relationship.
There are here two warnings for us who are followers of Christ. First those who are leaders involved with shepherding others, have a great responsibility of shepherding well. Failing to provide adequate care and godly guidance, may result in being terminated as a shepherd. There is a great responsibility as a shepherd and great care must be taken to shepherd in the ways of Christ. The second warning is to every follower of Christ to maintain respect and reverence for our Good Shepherd. He has given His life for us and the last thing He deserves is for us to turn our backs on Him. He deserves our honour and our heartfelt worship and nothing less. Therefore let us be mindful of how we respect the Lord and let us give Him the glory that is due to Him, never grieving Him.
"Father, shepherd me and lead me into Your path of righteousness and teach me to be obedient. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
God bless,
Pastor David Gunawan
