LESS THAN THE BEST
Bible Reading: Malachi 1
"'Cursed is the cheat who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but then sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord. For I am a great king,' says the LORD Almighty, 'and my name is to be feared among the nations.'" Malachi 1:14
The Lord conveys His great displeasure in those who offer blemished sacrifices. He labels such people as a 'cheat' since they are capable of giving better, yet they do not.
Our God is a great and mighty God, and He deserves our best. He is the Maker of the Universe and is Sovereign over all. Who then are we to give our left overs, or even our second best? Our respect for the Lord can be seen in how we give to Him. Do we give Him the best of our time? Do we give Him the best of our finances? Do we give Him the best of our talents? Let us seriously consider what we are offering the Lord and decide whether it is truly worthy of the King of kings. In our busyness or ignorance we may find ourselves giving of the left overs to our God and we must be quick to rectify the situation. Therefore let us keep the Lord first place in our lives, offering Him the very best that we have.
"Father, forgive me for giving You less than my best and help me to give the firstfruits of all I have. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
God bless,
Pastor David Gunawan
